Prescription Drug Benefits

  • Summary of Benefits

    Prescription drugs are available through two prescription drug programs.

    • Retail Program: Allows you to purchase prescription drugs from a large, nationwide network of retail pharmacies. This program is for patients needing a medication for 30 days or less.
    • Mail Program: Allows you to purchase prescription drugs through the mail. This program is for patients needing medication on a long-term basis (up to a 90-day supply).

    This summary shows how the cost for covered medications is shared between you and the Plan. Read the Summary Plan Description for a full explanation of your benefits.

    The pharmacy program covers a limited number of over-the-counter (OTC) and preventive medications with a $0 copayment, when prescribed by your physician. 

  • Express Scripts

    The Plan's prescription drug benefits are administered by Express Scripts.

    Website: After you gain eligibility, it's recommended that you visit the Express Scripts website (www.express-scripts.com) and complete the free registration.

    • Order prescriptions by mail
    • Track deliveries
    • Look up pharmacy claims

    Mobile: The Express Scripts mobile app puts useful features right on your mobile device. Register or sign in to the Express Scripts website to download the free app.

  • Providers

    Participating Pharmacy: If you need a prescription for 30 days or less, Express Scripts works with a nationwide network of retail pharmacy chains. Register and sign in to the Express Scripts website to locate a participating pharmacy.

    Non-Participating Pharmacy: You're allowed to purchase from a non-participating pharmacy. You'll have to pay the full retail price, however. To get reimbursed, you'll need to send the receipt to Express Scripts along with a completed form. If covered, reimbursement will be limited to 100% of the "average wholesale price."
