What makes Quit for Life successful is the way it combines counseling and medication to address different dimensions of tobacco addiction. If you tried but failed to quit in the past, this is the program you should try the next time you're ready to quit.
"Don't do it alone" is the number-one rule for quitting tobacco. That's why Quit For Life matches you up with a Quit Coach who has at least 240 hours of training In behavior counseling. This training gives your Quit Coach the skills to help you identify thought patterns and situations that trigger your desire to smoke.
All counseling sessions are conducted over the phone. You'll receive up to five sessions, about one per month, arranged around your schedule. You'll also have unlimited, toll-free access to a Quit Coach any time you need help getting through a tough time.
Counseling by itself isn't enough. Tobacco is a physical addiction. That's why Quit for Life incorporates some type of medication into its program. Medication takes the edge off the withdrawals while you're practicing coping techniques Learned from a Quit Coach. Whether you try a prescribed medication or over-the-counter nicotine replacement (patches or gum), it can greatly improve your probability for success. As an eligible participant, you'll pay nothing out of pocket for gum or patches. You'll get your prescription medication without a copay, but you'll need to have your doctor write the prescription.
