Medco Pharmacy Offers Free Smartphone App

A free smartphone app from Medco can help you keep track of your medications and take them as prescribed. The app is available for iPhone, Android, or Blackberry smartphones.

The app is a virtual medicine cabinet, allowing smartphone users to view their medications, set reminders for when to take them, and notify them when supplies are running now.

Personalized alerts keep users aware of possible health risks related to the medications. Over-the-counter medications, vitamins and supplements can be added to check for possible interactions.

The app also features the ability to search for lower-cost prescription options while sitting in the doctor's office, where they can be discussed with a doctor. If a user happens to forget his or her prescription ID card, the app can display a virtual card that can be shown at the pharmacy.

For iPhone users, the app supports iPhone 3G, 3GS and 4, and a free download is available from the iTunes App Store.

For Android users, the app supports OS 2.1 and later and is available at Android Market.

The app is also available at Blackberry App World for the following devices: Bold/Tour (OS 4.5 and later), Curve/Curve2 (OS 4.5 and later) and Storm/Storm2 (OS 4.7 and later).
