Spending More Doesn't Get You More
Carpenters and their families want and deserve quality health care. But high cost doesn't always mean high quality.
That goes against conventional belief, and it's not hard to understand why people think that way. After all, patients are consumers, too, and they see the same basic idea illustrated in dozens of real-life situations every day.
The Cadillac costs more than the Chevy because the Cadillac is better. Dewalt costs more than Craftsman because Dewalt is better. When you pay more, you get more.
High-quality health care is not a matter of spending more. It's a matter of getting...
- The right care...
- At the right time...
- For the right reason.
Hospital emergency rooms are the most costly places to receive health care, but if your symptoms are not life threatening, you're probably better off getting treatment elsewhere. Studies show patients receive the best quality of care when they see their personal physician.
