Delinquencies and Collections
Frequently Asked Questions
Feel free to contact Employer Labor Services if you have a question not listed below or want a more thorough answer. We’re here to help.
- "I have already sent in this month’s remittance. Why did I get a delinquency notice?"
It could be due to any of the following reasons:- You may have sent the remittance under a different account number. If so, contact Employer Labor Services at Northwest Carpenters Trusts to determine which account number you should be reporting. If the account number on the delinquency notice is identical to the number on the report you submitted, please provide a front and back image of the cashed check so that we can track down the payment through the bank.
- You may have forgotten that Northwest Carpenters Trusts requires a report even if no hours were worked for that month. If you have not done so, please send in a "zero-hour report." Or just write "no work" or "no employees" or "no hours" on the delinquency notice, sign it, and fax it in.
- Your report may be in the office but not yet processed. Employer Labor Services tries to pull these notices before they are mailed but some are missed. Before disregarding the notice, it’s a good idea to contact us to confirm that your report and payment have been received.
- You may have inadvertently remitted benefits for the wrong reporting month. Contact Employer Labor Services and ask to speak with a Collections representative for an adjustment.
- Your account may have been set up incorrectly. Contact Employer Labor Services to review and adjust your account accordingly.
- "I will not be able to send in my remittance by the 15th. Will there be penalties?"
Yes. Contributions deposited after the due date are delinquent and subject to interest assessed at 7% per annum for delinquent contributions for the first 30 days, and 12% per annum from that date forward. Liquidated damages of a flat 12% of the entire reported amount will be assessed for delinquent contributions past 30 days. - "I will be unable to pay the full balance of this month’s report. Can we make a partial payment"
Yes. Please fax or email a copy of your report to Northwest Carpenters Trusts, advise us of the amount you intend to pay now, and provide an expected date for when you expect to pay the remaining balance owed. Interest and liquidated damages will apply. If you fail to pay the remaining balance, your account may be referred to a collection attorney. - "Is it possible to go on a payment plan?"
Yes. Upon request, delinquent contributions may be paid off with monthly installments. Send a written request and copies of all delinquent reports to Employer Labor Services at Northwest Carpenters Trusts. A Collections representative will review your reports and contact you about a possible payment schedule.
