Retiree Health Reimbursement Accounts

Summary

Effective January 1, 2009, the Carpenters Health and Security Plan established Retiree Health Reimbursement Accounts to help retirees and their dependents pay monthly contributions for Retiree Coverage and monthly contributions for post-retirement COBRA Coverage following dollar bank eligibility. Retiree Health Reimbursement Accounts were established in accordance with Revenue Ruling 2002-41 and Treasury Notice 2002-45. The monthly contributions paid through the Retiree Health Reimbursement Accounts are intended to be excluded from the gross income of retirees and dependents.
